Cell-based drug screening device for in-house and collaborative use

ECI developed the Automatic TAXIScan System(ATS), which features high throughput and eight 48-channel units. The ATS injects a cell sample, aligns the cells at the starting line, and injects the test sample and chemotaxis factor in each unit automatically. Machinery for chemotaxis inhibitor screening enables automatic monitoring. This system uses Homo sapiens leukocyte cultured cells that were genetically engineered to express each chemokine receptor. ECI uses ATS for in-house drug development for competing studies with major global pharmaceutical companies.

• ECI screens compounds from pharmaceutical companies by performing high throughput screening using ATS, which enables a large-scale assay using a robot. Because ATS is automatically controlled by computer, the system can perform exhaustive analysis in a short time.
• ATS is able to perform up to 2,000 assays (per day).
